With her new solo album, Love Remains, only days away from release (July 29), Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott invited family and friends to celebrate her solo journey at a listening party on Wednesday night (July 20) at The Bell Tower in Nashville.

Hillary, joined by her family—mom Linda Davis, dad Lang Scott, sister Riley Jean and husband Chris Tyrell on drums—performed many of the songs from the album, including “Beautiful Messes,” “Safe Haven” and a very powerful solo rendition of her current single, “Thy Will.” Producer and friend Ricky Skaggs played mandolin and provided background vocals.

“You think you’re making a record for a reason and it ends up turning into you making a record for a bunch of reasons that you didn’t see coming,” said Hillary. “[“Thy Will”] is what came from that. I’m so overwhelmed with the stories, the response. So many people are allowing me into their most personal private moments of pain and struggle to tell me that this song has touched their heart. It’s about one specific thing for me but I realized that it’s about a lot of different things for a lot of different people.”

Emotions ran high throughout the evening as it was hard for the family to hold back tears during their performances. Hillary’s dad, Lang, became choked up while singing “Love Remains” with his family, and Hillary became emotional during her “Thy Will” performance. While there were tears, they were tears of pride, joy, happiness and love.

“Lane and I are just beaming,” Linda shared with the crowd. “I don’t know if you can tell how happy we are to have our girls in between us and our son-in-law on the drums and all of our friends and Ricky Skaggs and all of you to be in the audience to hear this music that we have just been about to bust to play and to get out there to you.”

After the event, Hillary took to her Instagram account to recall the night. “Tonight was one of the most special nights of my life,” she posted. “We got to perform most of our new album #LoveRemains for family, friends, and the Nashville music community. Eisele didn’t understand why she wasn’t on stage with us, so before the first song started we let her walk up and take her place on a stool.@rickyskaggs joined us on stage for 4 songs…it was perfect. Thank you to everyone who helped make this night a success, AND for everyone who came to the show. Get the album July 29th!!! My heart is so full.”

Love Remains will be available July 29.
