The Reba, Brooks & Dunn: Together in Vegas show has been extended once again. McEntire, Ronnie Dunn and Kix Brooks all visited Rolling Stone Country‘s Nashville studio this month for separate interviews, and we posed the same question to all three: Is there any end in sight to your Las Vegas residency? The answer from all was a resounding (and enthusiastic) “no,” with Dunn revealing good news for fans who haven’t yet been able to make the Sin City trek.
“We went in for a year [initially], and they renegotiated and asked us to do two more years,” reports the “Damn Drunk” singer of their gig at Caesar’s Palace, which began in summer of 2015. “So we’ll go into 2017, maybe parts of 2018 . . . No end in sight.”
In addition to their many recorded collaborations, Brooks & Dunn were Reba’s opening act back in 1992, and the friends did a two-year joint tour in 1997-1999. But for fans who’ve seen them perform together in the past, the singers insist Vegas is a whole new ballgame.
“Kix and Ronnie and I go on stage together and then I peel off and let them do some songs and vice versa. Then we end the show together,” Reba tells Rolling Stone Country. “It’s totally different; they’ve never seen a show like this before from us. It keeps us curious: What songs can we trade out and make it more interesting for the band, the crew, for us and the fans? Because if we’re bored, they know we’re bored so we keep it interesting.”
The threesome’s Vegas gig hasn’t sparked any plans for another joint tour. But Dunn reveals they are plotting a few shows together in Canada this fall, including stops in Vancouver and Calgary.
