2016 CMT Music Awards Nominees Revealed

carrieWhen it comes to music videos (and fans), it’s hard to beat Carrie Underwood. The country superstar has won the CMT Music Awards’ Video of the Year honors a record six times. She’ll try for a seventh on June 8th, when the cable network broadcasts its annual awards show from Nashville.

Underwood’s “Smoke Break” is up against videos by Keith Urban, Cam, Blake Shelton, Florida Georgia Line, Chris Stapleton, Jason Aldean, Little Big Town, Luke Bryan, Sam Hunt, Thomas Rhett and Tim McGraw for CMT’s top honors. As always, the CMT Music Awards are fan-voted. So, an online vote will narrow those 12 contenders down to six, to be revealed at the top of the live show. Viewers will then have right up until the end of the broadcast to vote on the night’s big winner.

Cam and Chris Stapleton share bragging rights with Underwood as the most nominated artists going into the 2016 CMT Awards — with three nods apiece. Cam and Stapleton are up for Female Video and Male Video of the Year, respectively, along with Breakthrough Video of the Year.

Fan voting is going on now through June 6th at CMT.com. There will also be a surprise category added to the ballot on June 1st.
